Feel like a thief snuck in and stole your sleep last night? Well thank goodness there’s an excellent reason for it. SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!! The clocks have gone forwards for another year, the lighter evenings have arrived and *hopefully* the weather will turn for the better. Yippee! So, in homage to the start of this wonderful season, I thought it would be fun to look at 4 reasons why Spring is pawfect for fun with dogs!

1) MORE LIKELY TO EXPLORE NEW WALKS & PLACES

Hasn’t it felt like everything has been sooooo dark for an eternity?!! Those long winter nights have certainly dragged on. Dog walks obviously continue in any weather, although the motivation level to actually get outside can be severely diminished, can’t it? (Just ask Ted who would love to hibernate!) Thank goodness for the better weather on the horizon and those gorgeous lighter evenings. There’s something so special about hearing all the beautiful birdsong which fills the air at this time of year too. All of these things combined just make you want to break free from the norm, spread your wings and explore, don’t they? There are so many amazing dog walks around the UK, Spring is the pawfect time to embrace them with your four-legged friends.

2) BEAUTIFUL PHOTOSHOOT OPPORTUNITIES

Let’s face it. More and more of us have an account on Instagram for our dogs, don’t we?! (Do you follow us?? We’d love to see you over there). Of course, we want the whole world to see how adorable our pups are! The great thing with Spring is there are so many more beautiful photoshoot opportunities. A beautiful backdrop of Spring flowers is perfect for ‘The Gram!’ and for making memories with your dog, of course. Many doggy photographers also offer special bluebell photoshoots at this time of year too. Some of our personal faves are Bridget Davey Photography (you can see our post featuring gorgeous photos of Ted taken by Bridget during another session here) as well as lovely Kerry from Whippet Snippets Photography & Megan Williams Photography too.

3) EXPLORE SOME DOG FRIENDLY BEACHES BEFORE THE SUMMER BAN

I don’t know about you but I absolutely love it when I get an opportunity to hit the beach with the dogs. Ted & Millie ADORE it! Sadly many beaches are closed to dogs from 30th April – 1st October and the beach life is sometimes (not always) slightly less appealing in the cold. So now Spring has sprung, you have a good month or so to track down some dog friendly beaches and make the most of them before the Summer ban falls into place. There’s just something particularly special about Spring nights on the beach…

4) TIME TO GO SHOPPING!

With a new season upon us, there’s nothing I love more than hitting the shops to treat myself to a new outfit in anticipation for the warmer weather (hopefully we will actually get some sunshine this year!) As well as spoiling myself, a change of season also means a great excuse to treat your dog too!! Yay!! What about a lovely Spring collar & lead set? Like the ones featured in our blog post here. Or some new outdoor enrichment toys to really make those extra walks special? Go on, treat yourself and your pup! We’ve got through what feels like the longest winter; now is the time to embrace the new months ahead. You and your dog deserve it (your bank manager can blame me!)
