Our wonderful friend and talented dog photographer, Bridget Davey, recently told us about a charity called HULA Animal Rescue, where Bridget has volunteered her photography skills for many years (which you’ll see more of if you read our #SundayDogStories blog tomorrow!) As luck would have it, HULA Animal Rescue were holding their annual May Fete & Fun Dog Show to help raise much needed funds for their charity, so we think you can guess what happened next…we just had to go along and join in the fun! Come and see who we met and what we got up to!
WHO ARE HULA ANIMAL RESCUE?
HULA Animal Rescue (Home for Unwanted and Lost Animals) is a registered charity which has been helping animals since 1972. Based in Bedfordshire, the charity takes in unwanted and abandoned animals and keeps them safe until they’re fortunate enough to be adopted. Fun days like the one we attended help raise vital funds for the upkeep of the centre, enabling the charity to help many more animals in their care. Luckily the sun was shining for the HULA fun day and with it came lots of people and their dogs (many of whom were past residents!) all ready to join together by entering the dog shows, raffles etc. Let’s go and meet some of the faces…
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE SHOW??
The main attraction of the day was the fun dog show held in the arena! There were lots of classes to choose from! So much fun to watch!
Outside the arena, there were plenty of eager spectators of the two and four-legged kind, weighing up the competitors on the inside!!
There were some great stalls and games to be played too, as well as raffles and delicious tea and cake!
As we made our way around the show we spoke to a lot of people with their dogs and two of our favourites were these gorgeous ex-residents, who have now thankfully found their forever homes.
One of the things we loved most about the HULA Fete & Fun Dog Show was observing the relationships and love between human and dog. There were so many examples at every twist and turn. Seeing this reaffirms there’s hope for those dogs who sadly don’t have a home of their own just yet. What we saw at the Show (and since we’ve been blogging actually) is humans need dogs, just as much as dogs need humans. Hopefully this means more dogs will find their way to new homes soon.
WHAT A DAY!
The day was simply fantastic. Full of love all around and most importantly, hope. Hope for those dogs still looking for a home at the centre and those who may find themselves there in the future. Over £5,000 was raised which is a brilliant amount and will no doubt help HULA Animal Rescue continue the amazing work they do. To find out more about them, you can do so HERE. Come back for our next blog which will look at two of their residents looking for a home. Could it be with you??!
In the meantime, enjoy some more of the wonderful faces we met during our day the HULA Animal Rescue Fete & Fun Dog Show (and one of us in action, courtesy of Bridget Davey Photography). We had a blast!!
